The Jan Collins Selman Fine Art Gallery first opened it's doors in 1996.

It began as an idea, and then as a collaboration between an ex NY entertainer/club owner (Joni Rapp) who had recently arrived in Falmouth,MA., and one of Cape Cod's most talented and popular painters (Jan Collins Selman), who lived in the town for many years.

Selman, an multi-award winning artist (see her bio)  was known mostly for her colorful landscapes and expressionistic pastels and oils.  She was also working (and winning International competitions) in the new world of "Digital Art" (see the Garden Series and Cape Cod prints).

Working outdoors or in her home (which she had expanded ..in the hopes of creating a studio/gallery), her work was already being shown in some very prestigious galleries from Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, Provincetown and even Florida, Maine and England at this time.

But, as Selman and Rapp formed a friendship, the thought occurred.:  Why not open a "Signature Gallery" for Jan's work right in her home town of Falmouth?
This is not an easy endeavor , but ...maybe this could work!  It would not only be a showcase for Jan's finished work, but a place she could set up her easel and paint while meeting friends and customers.

Jan still does occasional shows in other venues (and always donates work to local charities and fundraiser's), as well as taking time for speaking engagements at local schools/colleges and museums about art.  But, the gallery in Falmouth now remains home base (as well as online at this address).

Joni's part of this venture would be to take care of advertising (newspaper, magazine ads and occasional radio commercials), press releases, promotion, and mailings.
Over the years she has also catered the food and served as bartender for the gallery's Holiday shows and gatherings.
